We started at 1 and ½ and had to count on in ½ for five steps: 2, 2 ½, 3, 3 ½ , 4.
The next day we were comparing fractions using these symbols < > =.
Lots of us found this challenging. 1* was very simple however 2* and 3* were more complicated because you had to change the denominator (the bottom number on a fraction).
The day after that we found out how to order fractions. Most people understood 1* but when they moved onto 2* they found it harder because they were having to change the denominator. This meant you had to find a common denominator. To find a common denominator you had to use your times tables.
